THE CHOCOLATE REVOLUTION is well underway. This site aims to be an information resource for enthusiasts of fine chocolate, in particular single-origin chocolate.
At present we give details of 21 chocolatiers from France, Belgium, Italy, the UK, Venezuela and the US and tasting notes for 80 of their creations, mostly single-origin chocolate bars. There are big differences between these producers - we compare large international companies with small independent Parisian chocolatiers - and this site is there to help you navigate the growing world of single-origin chocolate.
In addition to details of chocolatiers and chocolate bars we have an introduction to the different types of cacao (yes, not cocoa) bean, the countries of origin, the (supposed?) health benefits of chocolate, advice on how to taste chocolate and much more.
NEWS: December 2008
We have added new reviews for the
VOSGES Naga bar and the
BONNAT Porcelana bar. You can pay up to $20 for the latter, which probably makes it the most expensive 100g chocolate bar in the world! Click
here to find out if it's worth it...
bar of the month: December 2008
VOSGES GOJI BAR 41%
This excellent and creative bar fuses sweet (but not too sweet) Himalayan Goji berries with pink salt in an extremely well-balanced dark milk chocolate. The textures work brilliantly together, and the salt comes to the fore in the finish.
