MALAGASY

THIS COMPANY CALLS ITSELF the "world's first Equitrade company", and imports chocolate, spices, coffee and tea from Madagascar. What this means is that MALAGASY shares its profits with the local producers, and helps them to develop their product range further. Among their products are two Madagascan chocolate bars which we review here.

Availability: MALAGASY can be found in many upmarket food stores, as well as some UK supermarkets (Sainsbury's and Waitrose are mentioned on the MALAGASY website.) It can also be ordered online from The Chocolate Trading Company. The MALAGASY website has a long list of stockists here.

This unusual and complex bar starts of with flavours of green, unripe fruit before exhibiting earthy notes of wood, mushroom and coffee and a hazelnut finish and aftertaste.

MALAGASY also has a bar called MORA MORA which we shall be reviewing shortly.
